Strengthening EU–India Collaboration for the Twin Transition

The Roundtable on Opportunities for EU–India Collaboration for the Twin Transition, organised by the Federation of European Business in India during the AI Impact Summit, marked a significant milestone in advancing the strategic partnership between the EU and India.

In his special address, Mr. Roberto Viola, Director General, DG CONNECT, European Commission, applauded the strong political commitment on both sides to build a robust, resilient, safe, and secure digitally connected society and economy.

A major highlight was his announcement of the signature of the administrative arrangement on the mutual recognition of e signatures between the European Commission and the Government of India—an important first step toward establishing digital interoperability as a short term deliverable of the partnership.

Promising results from interoperability tests between the European Business Wallet and India’s Aadhaar-based digital identity ecosystem further demonstrate the progress toward seamless, trusted cross border digital interactions.

Another important milestone achieved under the EU- India Trade partnership was First-ever European Legal Gateway Office launched in India, by Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, and Dr. S. Jaishankar, Union Minister of External Affairs of India. The Legal Gateway will serve as a marketplace to support the mobility of talent and skilled workers and will facilitate safe, legal, and well-informed migration and mobility from India to 27 EU Member States in the ICT sector. It will also support EU-based employers and higher education institutions to engage with Indian talent.

As the Twin Transition continues to shape economies worldwide, strengthened EU–India collaboration—through platforms such as the Trade and Technology Council (TTC) and SESEI—will play a pivotal role in fostering resilient, secure, and future ready economies powered by Standards.

🤝 Collaboration. 🌱 Sustainability. 🔒 Trust.

Together, the EU and India are charting the path toward a digitally empowered and green future.
