Nasscom, the trade association for IT services and business process management companies, has made its pick of the top ten most innovative technology products and services startups for the year 2019, seeking out firms that have the potential to scale at speed. The ten startups, which have been picked from Nasscom’s Emerge 50 awards finalists, are from a wide range of sectors including Software as a Service, retail technology, healthcare, cyber security, internet of things etc.
The discussions in Joint Working Group focused on Freight and Passenger Cars, Railway Electrification Equipment, Multimodal transport and tunneling technology.
International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), the automotive R&D and testing agency under Government of India has launched a new testing and development facility in Manesar. Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises inaugurated the new facility. As the agency claims, this new facility will help in bringing out the technical advantages of hybrid electric vehicles.

India has joined the league of 15 of the world's leading city networks and technology governance organizations for advancing the responsible and ethical use of smart city technologies. The G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance will create global norms and policy standards for the use of connected devices in public spaces, a World Economic Forum (WEF) release said.
Smart City project to drive LoRaWAN adoption
India's ambitious smart cities project is going to drive the adoption of LoRaWAN based IoT in the country, Donna Moore, CEO & Chairwoman of the LoRa Alliance said, adding that use cases around agriculture, human safety, and environmental conservation will also give a push to the technology.
LoRa Alliance- an open association that supports and deploys LoRaWAN protocol is in talks with the Indian government to acquire tenders for the Smart City mission that is likely to be further rolled out in about 4000 cities.
The European Commission and India's Department of Science and Technology launched an 18 million euros joint call on research and innovation to develop integrated local energy systems. Proposals should develop and demonstrate novel solutions, integrating all energy vectors (electricity, heating, cooling, water, wastes, etc.), including possibilities offered by batteries and electric vehicles, interconnect them and optimize joint operation with increased share of renewables and a higher energy efficiency, said a EU press statement.
