The government has slashed the annual marking fee to get a new BIS license and certification by 50 per cent for micro-industry, startups and women entrepreneurs. It also said the services of BIS are now made available free of cost to everyone and can be downloaded from the standardization port of e-BIS. The government has given 50 per cent rebate on (new) BIS certification of products for start-up, micro-industry and women entrepreneurs. An additional 10 per cent rebate has been given to the existing licence holders, which will give a boost to the government 'Vocal for Local' campaign.

Semiconductor major NXP India is partnering with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and Fabless Chip Design Incubator (FabCI), IIT Hyderabad for its maiden ‘Semiconductor Startup Incubation and Acceleration Programme’. It aims to support India's vision of making the country a self-reliant nation as it will create a ready platform to support startups who wish to design semiconductor chips in India. Industry estimates suggest the Indian semiconductor market stands at around $300 million. If semiconductor fabs are added to this, the value could go up to $4-5 billion.

Power and Renewable Energy Minister said a committee will be set up having members from all relevant Ministries for implementation of the Roadmap on Energy Efficiency and low carbon technologies. A high-level meeting to review the progress of various energy efficiency programmes and the preparedness for Climate Change Actions in the country was held. The purpose of this high-level meeting was to discuss activities in the field of energy efficiency across all sectors of the economy with the objective of reducing CO2 emissions. The Minister said a concerted push for renewables is already under way and a detailed action plan will be developed to identify potential areas.

Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy said purchase of green hydrogen will be made mandatory for certain sectors similar to renewable purchase obligation.

Under RPO (Renewable Purchase Obligation), bulk purchasers like discoms, open access consumers and captive users are required to buy a certain proportion of renewable energy out of their total consumption of electricity. They can also buy RE certificates from renewable energy producers to meet the RPO norms. Green hydrogen is produced using renewable energy and electrolysis to split water and is distinct from grey hydrogen, which is produced from methane and releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and blue hydrogen, which captures those emissions and prevent them causing climate change.

 Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE), organization that works on creating awareness about energy efficiency as a resource, has released the Green Vehicle Rating (GVR), country’s only vehicle rating system based on environmental performance. An information tool, GVR aims to reshape consumer knowledge on vehicles and help buyers calculate its impact on a community's health and environment. With the launch of the industry first tool, AEEE has set out to move the ever growing 2 and 3 wheeler rider base towards greener options in the country. GVR also intends to help buyers identify high performing vehicles, make informed decisions with a web-based rating system for vehicles followed by working towards increasing the demand for greener variants.

An ambitious ‘Roadmap 2030’ was adopted at the Summit to elevate bilateral ties to a ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’. The Roadmap will pave the way for a deeper engagement over the next ten years in the key areas of people to people contacts, trade and economy, defence and security, climate action and health. The two Prime Ministers launched an ‘Enhanced Trade Partnership’ (ETP) to unleash the trade potential between the 5th and 6th largest economies of the world and by setting an ambitious target of more than doubling bilateral trade by 2030.

The Indian Economy has shown significant resilience amidst the global pandemic and trade shock that began to impact the global economy towards the end of 2019-20 and acquired catastrophic proportions in 2020-21. Secretary, Department of Commerce, Government of India said during the virtual media interaction that the cumulative value of overall exports (merchandise & services) during April-March 2020-21 has been estimated at USD 493.19 Billion compared to USD 528.37 Billion during April-March 2019-20, registering a negative growth of (-) 6.66 percent.
