The objective of Smart Meter Summit 2024 was to provide a platform for key stakeholders to discuss the metering requirements and opportunities in India. The conference also highlighted the key challenges faced and enable knowledge sharing on various aspects of smart metering including communication systems, emerging technologies, design and testing, and data acquisition and management. The conference also showcased the best practices in the metering space. The SESEI expert attended the Summit as a speaker and shared presentation on Smart Metering in EU and India: Market Dynamics, Regulation & Standards.
The SESEI expert was invited to speak on “Opportunities and Challenges for the Cooperation of EU and India in Standardisation. In his presentation, SESEI provided an overview of the Standard Development organizations in India and EU, emphasizing the need for ICT standards to be global and the various EU-IndiaPartnership Instruments, established by the EU and India to ensure close cooperation and collaboration on ICT Standardization. He also reiterated on the criticality of integrating research into the standardization (Standards based Research), especially to identify and address emerging topics in technology.
The expert was invited by India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) to participate as a distinguished speaker in 8TH IEC – IEEE SMART ENERGY STANDARDIZATION COORDINATION WORKSHOP – Session 1: Emerging Smart Energy Technologies and Standardization Landscape during the 10th edition of India Smart Utility Week (ISUW) 2024. The SESEI expert used this opportunity and shared a presentation on “European policies and Standards“ covering Key Directives, Key Policy Initiatives and Standardization around Green & Clean Energy.
SESEI expert was invited by ETSI to participate in the conference as a speaker and provide a status update on the Artificial Intelligence policy and standardization efforts carried out in India.
SESEI was invited by QCI to attend the 3rd ICSTS as a key speaker and give a presentation during the Opening Plenary Session on “Sustainability Standards as a Tool for Advancing Global Sustainability Goals in advance”. SESEI used this opportunity and shared a presentation covering Sustainable development and SDGs, Circular Economy and its benefits, key Policy Initiatives in India and EU that are contributing significantly to achieving SDGs, Role of Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) in achieving SDGs and EU-India Partnership.
C-DAC invited SESEI expert to join the meeting and share his viewpoints regarding standards associated with the connected vehicles/devices space. SESEI used this opportunity and shared insights covering policy initiatives and standardization work around Intelligent Transport System (ITS) in India and Europe.
The Royal Alliances & Capital Summit ’23 was strategically curated for High Net Worth Individuals (HNIs), Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNIs), influential Business Leaders, Real-Estate Developers, New Age-tech Companies, Global Fund Managers, and Educational Industrialist. SESEI expert was invited to attend the “RACS 23” and share his insights on key policy initiatives and standards to address the issue of circularity and carbon footprint in C&D waste management in EU and India.
The theme, of summit was “Business Beyond Borders” and role of standards has an importance in this framework. SESEI expert was invited by CII to attend the session on “Role of Standards & Quality in Strengthening MSME Exports” as a panelist. SESEI expert used this opportunity and shared a presentation during panel discussion. The presentation highlighted: SESEI Project, standards and its Role in strengthening MSMEs, How Standards can help MSMEs address key elements to elevate their brand, Benefits of participating in standardization, SME Toolbox & Blue Guide etc.
SESEI expert was invited to attend the Cultural-cum-Academic Activities Event: Advancing Sustainable Development: Building a Resilient Future – Focusing on India-EU Collaboration as a key speaker. This event was organized by Miranda House in collaboration with the Culture Council, University of Delhi, Department of Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Studies, and the Department of German and Romance Studies, University of Delhi.
SESEI expert shared a presentation covering EU initiative, India Initiatives and EU-INDIA cooperation covering SDGs, Green Deal, Circular Economy, Eco-Design, Resource Efficiency, Material Efficiency etc. around Policy and Standards.
EU delegation to India together with Centre for Responsible Business (C4RB) organized an event to bring together a distinguished gathering of experts to reflect upon successful EU and Indian examples of how eco-labels and other market and policy instruments can/could better contribute to the LiFE initiative’s principles and priorities. SESEI expert was invited by EU delegation to attend the event and share insights on the EU policy measures around Circular Economy, Eco-design, Ecolabelling etc. and provide input to the report prepared.
Bharat Exhibitions organized its flagship event on Smart Cities, Safe City & Intelligent Mobility India 2023 Summit on 23rd August 2023 to bring together industry thought leaders, policymakers, investors, and innovators on a single platform. SESEI expert was invited by Bharat Exhibitions to moderate the panel discussion on:
- Safe City and Smart Mobility: The Vision for Future Urban Environments in India
- Creating Resilient Cities: Smart Mobility for Disaster Management and Emergency Response
SESEI used this opportunity to share a presentation covering Smart Cities & Role of Digital Technologies in Disaster, Smart mobility, Policies & Standards around Smart Cities, Smart Mobility (ITS) and Disaster Preparedness in Europe and India etc.
SESEI was invited by VDMA to attend the seminar as a speaker. SESEI took this opportunity and gave a presentation covering topics such as EU-INDIA: Growing Partnership (Partnership Instruments), European Commission: Machinery Regulation (Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC – New Machinery Regulation 2023/1230), ISO Guide 78/ CEN Guide 414: Safety of machinery, CEN and ISO Standards for Safety of Machinery, BIS Standards for Safety of Machinery etc.
Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized a seminar on the topic ‘Standardization in the Usage of Digital Signature’ to create awareness about the standardization activities and importance of this sector. SESEI expert, on behalf of Mr. Nick Pope, Vice Chair ETSI TC ESI, attended the seminar as a key speaker and gave a presentation on the topic of “Overview of Digital Signature Ecosystem”. The presentation covered:

- ISO Signature Format Standards & ETSI AdES Standards
- Study by SSD10 & Recommendations
SESEI was invited to present the Disaster Prevention and Preparedness with standards & Policy prospective in EU and India. SESEI shared a presentation on Digitization Efforts having dedicated technology solution around Emergency from ETSI (TETRA & EMTEL) and 3GPP (Mission Critical, PPDR etc) and during panel discussion highlighted the role of Green & Clean Energy to avoid such Natural Disasters.
National Telecommunications Institute for Policy Research, Innovation & Training (NTIPRIT) under Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India, invited SESEI expert to deliver a presentation on ETSI: Organizational Setup, Functions and Secretariat working etc. SESEI used this opportunity to give a presentation on an overview of ETSI, its standardization activities, Standards Development process and Emerging Technologies etc.
SESEI as one of the KEY speakers at the summit gave presentation titled “Market Dynamics and Regulatory challenges in Smart Meter rollout”, in which Status Update from Europe on Policy & Standards was provided.
Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai approached SESEI to give a presentation on Artificial Intelligence. SESEI participated in the AI Conclave virtually and gave an overview of the Artificial Intelligence in EU and India, covering both Policy as well as standardization related work.
India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) requested CEN-CENELEC and ETSI to continue their support to ISGF and join the 9th Edition of India Smart Utility Week (ISUW) 2023 as a Supporting Organization. SESEI expert attended the ISUW 2023 on behalf of CEN-CENELEC and ETSI and made a presentation on “European/Global Standards”, during ISUW 2023 Special Workshop on ” IEC-IEEE Smart Energy Standardization Coordination Workshop (in collaboration with BIS, IEC and IEEE)”.
On the occasion of the Future Tech Congress 2022, held at Bengaluru from 22nd to 23rd November 2022, SESEI organized and moderated a session called “SPECIAL SPOTLIGHT: STANDARDS”. SESEI moderated Panel Discussion on “oneM2M: Impact of Global Standards in India”. During the Panel discussion , SESEI touched upon need to have global standards for IoT and M2M in India, its impact and effect on issues such as inter-operability, innovation , capacity building , data privacy etc.
SESEI was invited as the speaker by the GISFI at the 39th GISFI STANDARDIZATION SERIES MEETING. SESEI gave a presentation on “6G: Green Technology Evolution: EU policy measures and contribution of ICT Standards”. In the presentation SESEI provided updates on EU Policy measures around 6G, Green Deal – Circular Economy and how ICT Standards will play a key role achieving it.
SESEI was invited as a “Distinguished Moderator” at the 8th edition of Smart Cities & Intelligent Mobility India 2022 organized by the Bharat Exhibitions. SESEI took this opportunity to share policy initiatives and standardization work around Smart city and Smart mobility (ITS) in India and Europe. The presentation also highlighted the role of standards in smart cities and Intelligent Transport and Smart Mobility.
SESEI was invited by National Telecommunications Institute for Policy Research, Innovation & Training (NTIPRIT) to deliver a presentation on the Organizational Setup, Functions and Secretariat working of ETSI. SESEI made a presentation on the overview of ETSI covering: ETSI membership, Standards formulation and engagement with the industry, Benefits of standards, List of emerging technologies being standardized by ETSI and ETSI cooperation with INDIAN SDOs etc.
Quality Council of India (QCI) organized its 23rd Virtual Quality Conclave (VQC) jointly with NABET-QCI and NBQP-QCI on E-waste Management Quality Strategies for driving towards a Circular Economy. The conclave aims to discuss Standards & Guidelines to tackle e-waste in India & achieve a Resilient Circular Economy. SESEI expert attended the event as a key speaker and gave a presentation on European/International Standards & Policies around e-Waste/Circular Economy.
