Achievements

Some of the key achievements of the SESEI Project since its inception in 2013 are:

  1. Permanent presence of Project SESEI expert in India provides, a considerable insight, access and to an extent, influence into the Indian standardisation programmes i.e. program, roadmaps and priorities. The presence and involvement of the SESEI expert in relevant associations, working groups and Technical Committees in India has been an invaluable asset to raise awareness of Europe’s Best Practices, Standards, vision and approach to challenges.
  2. SESEI is a member of many technical committees and Working groups of Bureau of Indian Standards, Telecom Engineering Centre, TSDSI, Niti Aayog and Leading Trade and Technology Associations, with primary objective of being the promoter of the European Standardisation system and regulatory convergence. This has helped in achieving considerable impact on the Indian regulatory and Standardisation system and also providing deep insight of the Indian standardisation efforts and status to the European Stakeholders.
  3. SESEI Project has been instrumental in signing of many MoU’s and enhancing closure Cooperation between the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) with CEN CENELEC and ETSI.
  • Closure of MoU between BIS -CEN-CENELEC and BIS – ETSI
  • BIS officials visit to EU/EFTA as part of the study cum training tour organized by SESEI.
  • MoU with ISGF-CENELEC, BIF-ETSI, COAI-ETSI etc.

4. SESEI Project has been able to establish a strong network of more than 3000 contacts. All partners have access to the contacts database that can be leveraged to engage stakeholders in India, either with support of the SESEI expert or directly. This network is effectively used for sharing SESEI newsletters and other important announcement in India and Europe.

5. Adoption of EN’s

  • Adoption of EN-115 standards as Indian Standard: BIS
  • Adoption of EN 301 549 (Accessibility requirements suitable for public procurement of ICT products and services): BIS
  • Adoption of E/Digital – Signatures ETSI Library: plans to adopt entire ETSI library

  • Adoption of OneM2M Release 2 and Release 3 Specifications as national Standards in India

– BIS Standard on Smart Infrastructure has IoT reference Architecture standards which is based on oneM2M Reference Architecture, Other standard also include ETSI NDSI-LD etc.

  • “Standard for “Energy Consumption Rating and Energy Passport” for Telecommunications at TEC includes ETSI Standards
  • Adoption of EN 303 645 – cyber security standard for consumer IoT devices: TEC Code of Practice
  • TSDSI transposition of 3GPP for IMT-Advanced/4G/5G specifications adopted as National Standards by TEC

-5Gi became part of 3GPP Release 17

6. Sharing of Information and Best Practices for both Indian and European Stakeholders

7. Indo European Conference on Standards & Emerging Technologies: a platform established by SESEI for effective and continuous dialogue between EU and Indian Standard makers, Policy makers, Industry and academia to learn, share best practices and identify gaps to work as mutual areas of interest.

8. SESEI provides full support and cooperation to the European and Indian companies on issues related to Market Access and understating of the Indian product certification & Accreditation.

The aim of the SESEI project is to establish a collaborative framework between EU and India, by reducing technical barriers to trade, harmonisation of standards especially on the topics of Digitization, Clean & Green Technologies working groups formed under EU -India TTC.
