Mr. Adrian Scrase, Chief Technical Officer, ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute and Head of 3GPP MCC ( Mobile Competence Core ), visited India between 8th -9th May 2013.
Mr. Scrase has played a central role in the creation of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and is currently the Secretary of the 3GPP Project Co-ordination Group. As ETSI’s CTO he is also responsible for all of ETSI’s standards production activities. Mr. Scrase holds more than 30 years’ experience in the telecommunications field, which includes 25 years of experience in international standardization.
During his visit to India, Mr. Scrase met with senior Government officials from Department of Telecom ( DoT), Department of Electronics & Information Technology (Diety) and representatives from the Industry Trade Associations. SESEI also hosted a dinner in honour of Mr. Scrase inviting important Industry stakeholders. During the Dinner, Mr. Scrase and Mr. Dinesh Chand Sharma , introduced the “Seconded European Standardization Expert in India” ( SESEI) project which has been commissioned by the three European Standards Organizations (ESOs), CEN (the European Committee for Standardization), CENELEC (the European Committee for Electro-technical Standardization) and ETSI (the European Telecommunications Standards Institute), together with the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association(EFTA), have created this project and post of Seconded European Standardization Expert in India, thus supporting the EU-India co-operation and relationship around standardization, policy and legislations.
