C-DOT Foundation Day – oneM2M Conference
New Delhi, India
The conference is co-organized by C-DOT (Centre for Development of Telematics) and ETSI, with the support of EU-India Project and Indico, two collaboration projects on ICT topics, funded by the European Union.
Discussions will cover the IoT domain from various aspects of use cases, policy making as well as security issues, with the participation of high-level lawmakers, academia and research, industry and cities in Europe, Asia and India.
Agenda of the eventMarket projections for the growth of Machine-to-machine communications and the Internet of Things are unrealistic without the emergence of a global standardized platform. The industry will not take off without significant consolidation of the economies of scale that standardization can bring. Rationalization need to occur although disparity will continue on the device and connectivity level.
OneM2M is a set of specifications that enables users to build platforms, regardless of the existing sector or industry solutions. The intention is not to discard or ignore industry-specific standards, but to work with them to provide value and extend their reach.
CLOSE-UP ON INDIA
India is today the fastest-growing economy in the world, with its GDP rising by 7.2% in 2018 and predicted to grow at 7.4% in 2019. Two of the strongest pillars of this growth have been the communications and technology sectors. India’s digital infrastructure is coming to life with a combination of policy and technological innovation.
Initiatives like Make-In-India, 100 smart cities (smart city mission) are ambitious steps towards increasing Internet connectivity and making the country digitally empowered.

The Telecom Engineering Centre, Government of India has announced that oneM2M to be adopted as a national standard.
At the same time Ministry of Housing and Urban affairs, who owns and runs the 100 smart cities project has solicited advice from SDOs on a full standard approach for project.
