Amity Telecom Vision Board Meeting: (11th July 2014, Amity University, Noida)

The Amity Telecom Vision Board Meeting was held on 11th July 2014 at Seminar Hall, Amity University, Noida. SESEI was invited to attend Amity Telecom Vision Board Meeting and share prospective on Education about Standardization, how it could be integrated in University curriculum.

SESEI with the help CEN CENELEC and ETSI prepared and shared ESOs initiative about Education about Standardization and suggested importance of the subject for inclusion in the university curriculum. The main aim of the Vision Board meeting was to bridge the gap between Telecom Industry and Academia and ensure the smooth transition of students from academia to professional world.

Eminent Telecom industry leaders including Mr. Akhil Gupta- Vice Chairman, Bharti Enterprises, Mr. Vimal Wakhlu- CMD, TCIL; Mr. Ravindar Popli- Head – Service Delivery, India Region ,Nokia; along with SESEI and others attended the Meeting.

It was felt that the graduates being churned out by Universities are not up to the mark whereas Universities feel that Industry doesn’t have time or enough projects for their students. The industry guests provided inputs on various Agendas of the Meeting which included

  • Assessing the feasibility of Accreditation of B Tech
  • Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Degree by Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC)/ Telecom Industry/Telecom Organization,
  • Training of faculty as trainers on live equipment, and others

Post the deliberations and exchange of views on the issue it was addressed that Universities have to provide service to industry on continual basis, engaging it and regularly providing solutions to their problems through research and development in areas such as maintenance of Telecom Towers, Tower Radiation, studying Carbon Footprints etc. The Corporate leaders should engage more often to suggest and decide on innovative ways of bridging the gap between industry and academia.

During the event, a specialized Telecom Laboratory which has come up with the equipments presented by key players in Telecom industry including Bharti Airtel, Delta Power Solutions Ltd, Radius Energy International, Ericsson India, BlueTown Denmark was inaugurated by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Group and other Industry Leaders.
